West Virginia delegates approve campus carry bill

Lawmakers in West Virginia have approved a bill that permits concealed carry permit holders to bring their firearms onto the campuses of state colleges and universities. The bill which has been referred to as the “campus carry” bill was backed by the National Rifle Association and passed the West Virginia House of Delegates on Tuesday 84-13.

The bill comes following a mass shooting at Michigan State University in which three students were killed and five others were injured.

The bill now lands at the seat of the governor of Republican Gov. Jim Justice. If signed West Virginia will become one of 12 states to have legislation around the issue. 20 other states have no current laws forbidding it in the first place.
