Student charged with battery following attack on teachers aide

A Florida high school student is being charged as an adult after allegedly attacking a teacher’s aid over a video game.

The student who is 6 foot 6 inches tall and weighs 270 pounds, was accused of assaulting a female school employee after she confiscated his Nintendo Switch. The incident, which left the victim unconscious, was captured by video surveillance and occurred on Tuesday at Matanzas High. The male student who is unidentified is a special needs student.

According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, the student has been charged with felony aggravated battery with bodily harm and has been transferred to the Department of Juvenile Justice.

According to the sheriff’s office, the victim has since been released from the hospital.
