A Connecticut teacher has resigned from Brookside Elementary School after being arrested and accused of using a chokehold on students.
Stefanie Sanabria, 50, of Danbury, was arrested last week and charged with strangulation, risk of injury to a minor, and reckless endangerment. Sanabria allegedly “demonstrated a martial arts chokehold on three fifth-grade students in class,” according to Norwalk police.
One student reportedly passed out as a result of the hold but was immediately treated by the school nurse and was not seriously injured.
Sanabria resigned from her position on Friday and has not responded to any contact attempts.
