NCAA makes transfer rules more restrictive

College athletes looking to transfer a second time will face stricter scrutiny than before. According to a memo from the NCAA obtained by CBS College Basketball analyst Jon Rothstein, one-time transfers will still generally become immediately eligible, however second-time transfers will now face a waiver process.

That waiver will only be given for specific reasons, and most notably those reasons no longer include things like coaching changes or even loss of scholarship.

The rule change comes on the heels of the transfer portal explosion and coach complaints and players transferring multiple times.
