Nashville private school shooting leaves 3 students and 3 staff members dead

The Covenant School, a Presbyterian private school in the Green Hills neighborhood of Nashville, Tennessee was the site of a shooting that left several students and staff members dead.

Nashville police say that a shooter armed with two assault-style rifles and a handgun killed three students and three staff members at the school on Monday morning. Reportedly the shooter gained access by shooting through a side door.

There were no shooting victims who survived.

The students were identified as Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, all 9 years old. The adults were Cynthia Peak, Mike Hill, and Katherine Koonce, who was the head of the school.

The suspect, Audrey Hale, is believed to be a former student and was shot and killed by authorities 14 minutes after the 911 call was placed. Nashville Police Chief John Drake said the suspect was transgender but did not provide further details.
