Texas Substitute Teacher Fired for Encouraging Students to Fight in Class

A substitute teacher at Kimbrough Middle School, located in Mesquite, Texas, was fired after encouraging students to fight each other during class.

The Mesquite Independent School District received a video on Thursday morning that showed fights from the previous day, and immediately launched an investigation.

The teacher, identified as 32-year-old Tiffani Lankford. had been employed since March 6. Allegedly Lankford had outlined rules for the fights and even instructed another student to monitor the classroom door while they took place.

The district described the teacher’s actions as “appalling and intolerable” and referred the incident to the police for possible criminal charges. Mesquite Police Department is currently investigating, and no arrests have been made. Campus administrators notified parents of the students in the class and informed them of the situation and the school’s response.
