The National Education Association (NEA) has endorsed President Joe Biden’s bid for reelection in 2024. The NEA, the largest labor union in the country, previously endorsed Biden in the 2020 election as well.
The organization praised Biden for his handling of education-related issues in a post on its official website:
“On April 26, NEA President Becky Pringle announced that the National Education Association, the largest labor union in the country, is recommending President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominees for re-election,” read the post. “During his term, Biden has made huge financial investments in public education, pushed the effort to relieve educator debt, and made strides toward safer communities and schools for children across the country.”
It is worth noting that the First Lady, Jill Biden, is a member of the organization herself and the President of the NEA, Becky Pringle was recently appointed to the Presidential Advisory Commission on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity for Black Americans by President Biden.
Biden announced earlier in the week that he was seeking reelection amid low approval ratings and concerns about his age and health. Education figures to play a prominent role in the next election as conservatives have taken a stand against what they perceive as “woke” education policies and curriculum.
