Confidence in higher education has hit a low according to the latest Gallup poll.
According to the survey, 36 percent of participants have “great deal” or “quite a lot” of confidence in colleges, down from 57 percent in 2015 and 48 percent in 2018. 22 percent of people now describe themselves as having “very little” confidence, up from only 9 percent in 2015 and 15 percent in 2018.
The results were different among different sub-groups. Democrats in general expressed greater confidence than Republicans. But both groups have seen a steady decline since 2015.
The results come at a time when colleges are under criticism for everything from cost to diversity policies.
