Missing Ohio State Student Found Dead in Quarry

Amina Alhaj-Omar, a graduate student at Ohio State University, who had been missing for a month, was found dead in a quarry in Columbus.

The 25-year-old’s body was discovered in a body of water behind a BP gas station, close to the location where she was last seen. The cause of her death has not been disclosed pending the completion of the coroner’s investigation, but foul play is not suspected according to Columbus police. Alhaj-Omar, described as a compassionate and empathetic individual, had aspirations of assisting immigrant victims of crime.

“This is a tragedy for the university community,” Ohio State said in a statement. “Amina was a graduate student in the College of Social Work. Our hearts go out to her family and friends during this exceptionally difficult time.”

Alhaj-Omar was a graduate student in the College of Social Work and had obtained her bachelor’s degree from the same institution.
